Kuala Keniam. About 2 hours of morning boat ride upriver, chilly
cold!
PERHILITAN operates some lodges there, whereas the rest of the
accommodation is managed by the Taman Negara Resort.
From Kuala Keniam, about 2 hours exhausting trek, reached Gua Luas
finally! So impressed to see the formation of the cave. 15 minutes more to
Gua Daun Menari, why not?!
Wow!...it looks exactly like how it's described at the Interpretive
Centre - "a wind blows gently from the mouth of this large chamber,
fluttering the leaves at the cave entrance, but the openings responsible
are hidden from view high in the cave roof....." I just couldn't resist to
climb up into this cave.
"Gii.......Gii....." bats flying over my head, and what I'm standing
on is actually centimetres thick of bat droppings!! Cockroaches, large
spiders, others god-knows-what insects, all scuttle on the cave floor. And
there, a long white snake disengages its jaws swallowing a bat!! Feeling
as if I'm in the Indiana Jones movie!!
Didn't stay overnight at Kuala Keniam. Back to Park Headquarters
in the late evening.
