The Canopy Walkway in Taman Negara was built in September 1992 by the staff of the Department of Wildlife & National Park. It is one of the three canopy walkways in Malaysia. The first canopy walkway was built in the year of 1968 in Bukit Lanjan, Kepong - Forest Institute of Malaysia (FRIM), with the length of 400 meters for research purposes. The second canopy walkway was built in Poring, Taman Sabah.

The 450 meters long and 50 meters high above the forest floor canopy walkway in Taman Negara is the longest in the world. It is built with high quality steel cables and robes. The ropes have a minimum snapping strength of more than 5 tons and the steel cables more than 10 tons.

No nail have been driven into the trees, but wooden spacers were skilfully fitted between the bark and the cables and ropes. This is to protect the health of the trees. Every inch of the Canopy Walkway is checked every morning to ensure its safety.
