You can hire a local dug-out canoe (or "sampan") for use on Sungai Tahan at the reception counter.

The sampan is small, suitable for one or two adults only. Go for a practice first because it can be rather unstable in inexperienced hands.

From Kuala Tahan to Lata Berkoh by paddle power will probably take all day. Accomplished canoeists can complete the return journey before nightfall though. You might spend a lot of time hauling the boat up through rapids. So, lace-up footwear is essential.

If you camp out overnight do so well above the river in case of flash floods. Stow all your gear in double plastic bags, preferably tied to the boat, or in biscuit tins with tight-fitting lids. And if you do get tripped out in a rapid, try to hang on to your paddle!

For the trill seeker, the river trip over the swirling rapids will surely prove exciting. Or you can challenge yourself for a white water rafting along the river!
